Juliana Stratton made history yesterday! Juliana was elected as the FIRST African-American lieutenant governor in the State of Illinois. As an African-American woman who grew up on the south side of Chicago and also a fellow Alum of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and of the DePaul University- College of Law, I was rooting for Juliana!

In March 2016, Juliana defeated Ken Dunkin for the fifth district seat in the Illinois House of Representatives. In August 2017, Juliana was announced as J.B. Pritzker's running mate in the 2018 gubernational election. In November 2018, Juliana was elected as the FIRST African-American lieutenant governor in the State of Illinois.
Juliana's victory is not just a personal victory, it is a victory for all women. Juliana is an example of how you may have been small in the eyes of many people for years, but when the time is right you can win BIG!
